Smoothie time

Don’t you just love smoothies?

pink!

When I was in 8th grade, I had this friend whose family made slushies using juice concentrate, a FULL CUP of sugar, and ice.  Oh my word.  Talk about hyper sleepovers.

More mouth-watering to me is a fruit smoothie.  I don’t have a specific recipe and each time it’s a little different.  I just toss these things in the blender and it turns out delicious.

  • one banana
  • some yogurt — usually vanilla or plain
  • a spoonful of orange juice concentrate (We don’t drink much orange juice, so I keep a can of frozen OJ concentrate in the freezer and just spoon out a bit each time I make smoothies)
  • any combo of frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or peaches
  • a splash of milk or juice
  • ice cubes if you like

If you have any left over, pour it in a cup to freeze and pull out the next day.

Enjoy!

Remember your vows

04.24.04

This really was one of the very happiest days of my life!  Everything seemed absolutely perfect.  We lucked out, with a beautiful April day — over 70 degrees!  Simple and sweet, fun wedding.  My dad turned it into a camp weekend, with relatives staying in cabins and our bachelor/bachelorette fun happening out in the good ol’ forest.

Multitudes of friends and family came all the way out to Camp Tadmor’s dining hall to see Jacob and I commit our lives to one another.  Bright spring colors greeted our guests and the invitations proclaimed “nachos, cheesecake and prizes to follow.”  I love looking back at our pictures; almost makes my face hurt just looking at the permagrins on both our faces.  I love my goofy husband.

With this ring

I pledge to you my

unconditional love

and commitment

I promise to work

together with you

to make our home

a loving and

Christ-honoring place

I commit before God

and our friends

to love and submit

to you according to

God’s holy ordinance

till death do us part

Humble

1 Peter 5:2-6
“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

Dating days

Jacob and I met at Camp Tadmor when I had just completed high school.  He was a college student at Whitworth.  This was Jacob’s first summer on staff, my third, and we were both camp counselors that year.

We had a conversation on the first day of camp, and we discovered later that both of our personal intentions had been to get through the whole summer without any dating relationships…. oops!

July 24 of that summer we became “official” and now here we are ten years later, married for six of those years and with two kids filling our days with joy and reliance on God!

Perspective

My heart is heavy for a couple different friends/family that have confided in me lately.  I hurt for their circumstances, want to help with their burdens… and I know that I can pray.  Doesn’t seem like enough.  My faith needs to grow so that I will run to God on behalf of these people.

Knowing the ups and downs of others and their struggles puts my life into perspective.  I think it helps me see my own life with new eyes, feel more grateful.

Ten Tube Bowling

We used:

  • 10 toilet paper tubes
  • scrapbook paper
  • scissors
  • tape
  • ball

All you need is about 15 minutes to get everything set up.  Good clean fun!

1 Chronicles 16:11-12

“Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced.”
